Our First Workshop of the 20-21 Season!
We just got finished with our first workshop of the 2020-2021 season! It was nice to see familiar faces and a few new faces too, the beauty of Zoom!
Our workshop was sponsored by American Kodály Institute, house by Loyola University Maryland. We want to thank them for the use of their Zoom account! Thank you AKI and Loyola!
Amanda Sorenson walked us through Musicators, a new website that helps bring music education to everyone. It is free to use, and it aligns so well with Kodály teaching! We were also joined by the creators of the website, Daniel Molnar and Daniel Bali. We were so excited they could join us as well.
To wrap things up, we ended with a round table discussion on virtual teaching and ways we have adapted our instruction to meeting the needs of students in this very different landscape. We heard from Lauren McDougle, Rachel Tanenblatt, Jacob Barker, and Amy DeLoriea as well as from Amanda Sorenson once again about some creative ways to continue making music in an engaging way this school year.
We hope to see you at our next workshop January 16 with multiple presenters, and at our collaborative workshop with Virginia Organization of Kodály Educators in May featuring Decolonizing the Music Room.
