On May 5, Maryland United Specialists in Kodály hosted our final workshop of the year: Wrap it Up!, a Kodály-focused make-and-take at Loyola University. Each of us in attendance at this workshop left with our arms full of goodies and our minds full of engaging new activities to try as we round out the end of the school year.
The morning began with over an hour of songs and games as MUSIK board member Lucia Schaefer led the group in demonstrations of all of the activities. The event was truly collaborative; Many participants offered brilliant suggestions and shared how they could adjust the games to accommodate of all of their students. The rest of the morning was spent being creative: everyone was busy coloring, tracing, cutting, and pasting! Four different stations around the room were set up to make manipulatives and game pieces for over a dozen fun activities. The atmosphere in the room was relaxed and cheerful as everyone chatted and worked at their own pace. |
This make-and-take workshop was a great way to conclude another year of Kodály-inspired teaching and learning. On behalf of the entire MUSIK board, I hope you have a fantastic summer. For those of you studying with us at the American Kodály Institute, see you back at Loyola University in July!
